Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on May 16 ratified the results of negotiations on a World Bank credit agreement and other related legal documents for the US $411.72 million Trung Son hydroelectric plant.
He assigned the Governor of the State Bank of Việt Nam to sign the agreement and these related legal documents with the lender. The Trung Sơn hydroelectric plant will be built on the Mã River in Thanh Hóa Province, with designed capacity of 260 MW.
It is expected to generate 1.55 GWh for the national power grid when completed in 2018. Apart from generating power, the plant will also work to regulate floods in the area.
